South West Water Extend Hosepipe Ban in Devon

Update 25/09/2023 – This hosepipe ban has now ended.

South West Water have widened their existing hosepipe ban into further parts of Devon starting on April 25th.

The water company already has a hosepipe ban in place since August of last year.

Included now are areas such as Plymouth, Barnstaple, Tavistock and Torbay. These districts are all fed by the Roadford reservoir in West Devon.

South West Water say that the reservoir is currently 66% full and blame last year’s drought for continuing low stocks across the region.

This extension is very worrying especially after a particularly wet March. A winter-long hosepipe ban is unprecedented and extending it so early in the year doesn’t bode well for the summer months.
